Valentines day...Mothers day...Fathers day.......?

Does nobody understand that these so called 'days' are generated by the greetings card industry and have absolutely no meaning?

The giving of cards and presents on these days are completely inappropriate unless you have been abandoning these people throughout the previous year!

Valentines day is for those who want to tell someone of their feelings anonomously...no one else!

Mothering Sunday and it's new manifestation...Fathers day, are inventions of recent times, but are nevertheless days upon which TIME is spent with those we care about!!! Not MONEY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!.

So how about we take money out of the equation and and give a litttle time, care, compassion, sympathy, gratitude and celebration?

And give a little less to emotionless corporations who are ripping off our most basic and important human feelings?

Valentines day...Mothers day...Fathers day.......?
Happy St.Patricks Day, National Potato Day, and Sausage Day, pancake Day etc, etc.
Reply:I agree that it's just a money making gimmick. Whilst people are so gullible they will just keep ripping us off.
Reply:Hear hear.

Still bought her flowers though, so I guess that makes me a hypocrite.
Reply:Mothering Sunday is actually part of the Christian Calendar and not a greeting card invention. Don't be so bloody miserable how much doea a freaking card cost for all your Mother/Father/lover has done for you in a year. Your name isn't Victor by any chance? I don't believe it!!!
Reply:Every day should be Mother's day lol.
Reply:my husband cooked me a lovely meal today, and i got a lovely long lie-in. I loved my day, please dont take it away ..

no-one is ever gonna make every day mothers day, it simply isnt doable -- one day a year is.

PS YOU DONT HAVE TO SPEND MONEY TO MAKE IT A SPECIAL DAY .. LIKE I SAID, I GOT A LIE IN AND A LOVELY MEAL!!
Reply:yeah but i bet you liked getting a valentines card.....and i bet you bought your mum a card for today.
Reply:Hope your mood improves soon......(wonder if there's a card for that?).......
Reply:Yes but my mum, dad, valentine don't accept that, so I crumble under the pressure to conform.
Reply:Don't celebrate Valentines day, flowers and cards, are a waste of money.

Rather go out for a nice meal!
Reply:has anyone ever realised that mothers day is 9 mths after fathers day? wonder why! that was pointed out by my late great father in law! absolutely agree with you never sent a valentines only as a joke, send cristmas cards.dont bother with anniversary cards send birthday cards, kids insist on sending mother and father day cards and prezzies, but it wouldnt bother us if they didnt cos they do plenty of other things for us rest of year
Reply:get over it. if u dont want to buy anyone anything than dont
Reply:I know that. And so is christmas. It's just more ways for those greedy bastards to milk the sheeple, I mean people.
Reply:Hi

Have you noticed there's a card and a day for almost every occasion now, Mothers Day, Fathers Day, Grandparents Day, Easter, Valentines Day, Christmas, Birthdays, Births, Deaths, the list is endless, I think we should give a day to people who masturbate, let them have Palm Sunday eh.

Reply:if my baby was to just give me one of his sweets on mothers day i'd be chuffed
