Reply:Awww...that's hard.I think you should sit down with your daughters and explain to them that you felt a bit hurt and unappreciated.

I'm sure as a mother that you do everything you can for your kids,so maybe just sit down and explain this to them...it's only one day in the year you get a break.

Tell them you didn't want them to go out and buy you loads of presents or anything like that...that maybe some flowers and a card and breakfast in bed would hav been perfect.Good luck!

I'm sure that they will understand=)

Reply:I am sorry to hear this, it hurts when kids forget mother's day, it may not mean anything to them, but it does to us. When they were young were holidays and mother's day or father's day made to be special? If not, this may be why they didn't get you a card, because to them it's just another day. I know you are hurt. They can't be to busy to notice all the ads out there that's for sure! Good luck to you.
Reply:So what, no problems at all. They are your creations, so my advise is to cook a nice meal since it is your day. Being a mother, hug and kiss them or may be buy them a surprise present and tell them that thanks for being there and making me a proud mother and celebrate mother;s day with your angels. Mother;s another name is God.
Reply:I'm an 18 year old male, and I can be horrible with birthday presents, fathers day, mothers day, etc, etc. So randomly 2 weeks ago my mum comes up to me and my brother (he's 17) and says "Right, you're getting me this and you're getting me that".

Haha too be honest I like it so much better that way, males, especially teenages are generally horrible at buying presents, adding to the fact its for a female, and not even one of similiar age and man... Lol
Reply:awww that sucks :( too bad last night i spent like 2 hours making a card for my mum and colouring it in and everything. Too bad though, just mention it and next time you'll probably get one and hope fully you get a awesome one for your birthday!
Reply:That's bad. :( Maybe they forgot? Or maybe they didn't think you wanted anything...if they're boys, it's prob'ly cus they didn't understand your hints.

You can joke about it...and maybe they'll catch on. Anyhow, it's not too late to celebrate Mother's Day. :)
Reply:i have to say that i'm almost 20 and i gave my mum some money so she could get what she wanted and thats what your 19 year old and 16 year old should of at least done for you. i hope you still have a wounderful mothers day.
Reply:Boys right?

Hopefully they will get their stuff together by the time they are thirty.
Reply:Why dont you make a joke about it like "Im so unlucky i didnt even get a hug, card, present etc for mothers day, im so jealous of other mums
Reply:What kind of child doesn't get something for their mother on mothers day?

16 year old teenagers are to "cool". 19 year old is just a jerk.
Reply:ha...i didnt do that too,

I guess we just dont celebrate anything but birthdays.

I dont know why mothers day is important

But i love my ma with all my heart....and i i hope she knows it
Reply:thats disgusting....
Reply:did they do ANYTHING?????? or just flat out forget it??
Reply:maybe they just forgot and Mothors Day is not over
Reply:Shazza---you have every right to be upset! There is just no excuse! I do not think you would be wrong in calmly discussing the matter with them.

Or maybe the next time they need a little extra money for something or ask you for a favor----you could say how hurt you were, and mention some of the little extra's we mother's always do for our kids! Some people just don't get it, and if we do not say anything to them, they never will get it!

Shazza--I want to give you a mother's day present, it is a sweet story and very true.

Growing up in Connecticut, My family lived near a big "woods" or forest. I could get to it from the backyard of our home, and one day while hiking and playing with friends we dicovered a patch of pink lady slippers (rare plant in Northeast USA). So that Mother's Day I took a spade and a pot with me to dig up a lady slipper . I was so sure I could remember where it was that we saw them, but I got hopelessly lost, for hours! (I think I was about 9 yrs.)

Total panic set in, crying, frustration, but I stumbled across the lady slippers anyhow---and I did dig one up! I think I was trying to deny that I was lost at that point!

Well obviously I did find my way out of the woods----Mom didn't even know I had gone missing, and she was very surprised to get her lady slippper----it did not survive!

I did go back and show her the lady slipper patch in the forest with my dad (he never got lost), mom, brother and sisters. It was the only hike I remember ever taking with them!

I did not get a Mother's Day gift either. I have one son, when he was little I got breakfast in bed and a homemade card. But Patrick's father was not consistent with this, so that stopped a few years ago.

I am going to follow my own advise that I gave you, and wait until he wants something, and then mention it!

You may e-mail me anytime.

Happy Mother's Day!
