Mothers day gift ideas?

my mom is a really tricky person to buy mothers day gifts for, any helpful ideas would be awesome

things i can't buy:

flowers, pajamas, a mixer/cookware, jewelry, perfume/lotion, gift cards, spa days or anything like that, clothes...i know this makes it pretty much impossible to find something good, but that's why i'm asking :)

Mothers day gift ideas?
DVD's of her favorite show or some old shows she used to love like I Love Lucy, etc.
Reply:So.. Instead of buying how about making?

Bake a cake, make a picture frame and put a special picture in it for her. How about a day out? A nice meal or maybe go somewhere that means something to her.
Reply:Get her a new set of 8 glasses and a matching pitcher for the Summer ahead. If she has a family and visitors then it will come in handy. There is nothing better than a glass of tea out of a nice glass....
Reply:Go to a jewlry store or macy's that's what I did.
Reply:Hey you said you cant buy flowers but what about a plant they last along time so there memorable.
Reply:Here's something creative that will be appreciated and you will have fun doing:

Make up a crossword puzzle and have all the hints be personal inside moments and jokes that only you two would know about. Put it on a poster board and add some clipart and some pictures to it!

The crossword puzzle could be time consuming and a bit frustrating ... you could do the same idea with a WORDSEARCH or WORDFIND puzzle.

Put your computer skills to work! Use Excel, get clipart from Yahoo Images Search, copy them, and reformat them, use a gluestick to put on posterboard.

Use graph paper, and pictures from magazines if you are not as good on the computer, and it will give it a homemade feeling.

This is a really beautiful poem too!

Women have strengths that amaze us.

They carry children, they carry hardships, they carry burdens but they hold happiness, love and joy.

They smile when they want to scream.

They sing when they want to cry.

They cry when they are happy and laugh when they are nervous.

They fight for what they believe in.

They stand up for injustice.

They don't take "no" for an answer when they believe there is a better solution.

They go without new shoes so their children can have them.

They go to the doctor with a frightened friend.

They love unconditionally.

They cry when their children excel and cheer when their friends get awards.

They are happy when they hear about a birth or a new marriage. Their hearts break when a friend dies.

They have sorrow at the loss of a family member, yet they are strong when they think there is no strength left.

They know that a hug and a kiss can heal a broken heart.

Women come in all sizes, in all colors and shapes.

They'll drive, fly, walk, run or e-mail you to show how much they care about you.

The heart of a woman is what makes the world spin!

Women do more than just give birth.

They bring joy and hope.

They give compassion and ideals.

They give moral support to their family and friends.

Women have a lot to say and a lot to give.

Reply:Does your mom work? Are there kids at home? If there are small kids at home a certificate for free babysitting would be cute. Or a certificate for a salon or a weekend trip where ever she wants to go. If she's really busy, you can get her a maid for a day. Being a single mom, I would love any of these gifts. I would also be happy with a pitcure colored by my 19 month old!
Reply:Get her a gift cert to her favorite place to eat, everyone has to eat. Or a place like Target anyone could find something they needed there. Worst case why don't you just plan a day to spend with her helping her with whatever she would regularly be doing like wash her car or help her clean the house.
Reply:Gift Cards. Everyone has them and you can't ever go wrong with them. Instead of finding out her shoe size, shirt size etc and buying something she will never wear just get her a gift card at her favortie store and let her choose what she wants. You can even get one at those day spas where she can choose a facial, massage or get her nails done.
Reply:She might appreciate this creative gift.

Make her a blog/timeline telling her how much she means to you and talk about all the fun times you've had together. I used http://ourstory.excellentabc.com to make one for my mom and I think she will love it. It is free to do and you can get really creative.
Reply:I always go one of two routes:

1) get her something sentimental, i.e. engraved picture frames with old pictures in it.

2) give her what she wants: I almost always give music or movies, I try and remember which new movies that she really liked.

My mom's really direct and sometimes she'll give me a list of things that she likes so that it's not so hard to shop for her.
