Does Mothers Day land on a different month in the UK to the US??
Im from the UK now living in the USA

Mothers day in the UK is in March

Mothers day in USA is in May

Crazy but true
Reply:In the UK, Mother's Day (properly called 'Mothering Sunday') is a moving celebration linked to the weeks of Easter. It is originally the day when employers allowed people to return to their 'Mother' parishes for one Sunday to see their families. Hence, a chance to see Mother, and if you were lucky enough, bring a gift. It is the third Sunday in Lent (the Christian season of preparation for Easter). Because Easter moves by as much as a month, so does Mothering Sunday.

In the US an arbitrary date is chosen, so that they can sell lots of greetings cards and flowers.
Reply:In the United Kingdom and Ireland, Mothering Sunday, also called "Mothers' Day" falls on the fourth Sunday of Lent (exactly three weeks before Easter Sunday). This is a tradition going back to the 16th century. That means it can fall at earliest on March 1st (in years when Easter Day falls on March 22nd) and at latest on April 4th (when Easter Day falls on April 25th).

Mothers Day in the US is always in May.
Reply:Yes Mothers Day is different in the UK and the US. In the UK it is actually called 'Mothering Sunday' and is I think the 4th Sunday in Lent, which this year was 2nd March. In the US it is in May but I don't know if it's always on a Sunday or not.
Reply:im in the uk and it was my birthday on mothers day. but im sure in all countrys mothers day falls on the same day. dont worry im sure you were right to give ur mum her prezzie on march 2nd. ask your friends if they gave presents to there mums on march 2nd.

Reply:Mother's Day in the UK is aways a few month's earlier than the US, but for some reason, Father's Day lands on the same day... :-) x
