Okay, I have some grandparents and great-grandparents that I am going to make Mother's Day cards for from my daughter (8months) i want to use her hands or feet in it but I can't figure out how! Any examples??
Mother's Day Craft Ideas??!!?
yellow feet prints round the page in the shape of a flower, use green hand prints for the stem. Put a little poem on the back
Reply:Take 3 tiles from a craft or hardware store.
Also, buy transfer paper and some medium.
Copy our daughter's picture and a scan of her hand onto the transfer paper. Also copy a sonogram, if you can. Be sure to invert the pictures because you're going to be transfering them to the tiles.
Wet both the transfer paper and the tile with medium. Stick the transfer paper on the tile. You can either let it dry for 4 hours or stick it in the oven at 170 for 4 minutes. Next, put a wet rag to wet it and peel off the transfer paper.
Viola! You have tiles with pictures on them.
Next, use a diamond drill bit and drill holes where you can attack rope, string, or ribbon.
Reply:If you are ok with messes, finger paint is the way to go. Crayola makes a good finger paints. You can do hand and foot prints with it. It's non-toxic and it cleans up pretty easy. You may end up just putting your child in tub afterwards. Best to do it outside unless you have a big kitchen floor to do it on. Have fun!
Reply:Here are two ideas that I had done for me by my kids at their preschool for Father's Day last year. Either idea would work fine for Mother's Day. In both cases, they dipped the kids hands or feet in finger paint and pressed them to a card.
Idea #1: My son did a card for me where they did a print of his hands on a blank card, glued a small tied string onto his index finger on the card so it looked like it was tied there, and then added the words "Daddy, I have you wrapped around my finger!". They then added a picture of my son playing at school...it was very cute.
Idea #2: My daughter did a card where her teachers dipped her feet into a light yellow and after pressing it onto the paper, they let it dry. Then, they put that paper in the printer and printed the following poem on top of it:
"Walk a little slower, Daddy"
Said a little child so small.
"I'm following in your footsteps,
And I don't want to fall
Sometimes your steps are very fast,
Sometimes they're hard to see;
So walk a little slower Daddy
For you are leading me
Someday when I'm all grown up,
You're what I want to be;
Then I will have a little child
Who'll want to follow me
And I would want to lead just right,
And know that I was true;
So, walk a little slower, Daddy,
For I must follow you."
The key to doing this is to LIGHTLY dip the feet in the paint or dye...you don't want it clogging your printer!
If you are looking for a way to print out a personalized message on a card at home or work, try the printable greeting cards at AmericanGreetings.com. Their Create and Print card software is free to download and lets you change the wording, colors and images to whatever you want. You can also print cards in different sizes, so you could easily fit her hands or feet on the card (assuming you are printing off a full-sized sheet of card stock).
